Future Engineer Fills Time with Activities

“Amazing, good looking and confident” is how Walter Deitzler, junior, describes himself.

Others, like his best friend, junior Henry Braeske, say he is narcissistic.

“Out of all the people in the world, I like to spend time with myself the most,” said Deitzler.

Deitzler does seem to have a lot to brag about. He participates in robotics and water polo along with many honors classes, with a weighted GPA of 4.1. However this could cause a problem for his future engineering career.

“He needs to cut back on some of his activities and invest some quality time in the remaining [activities],” said Mr. Thomas, Deitzler’s physics teacher and water polo coach.

Deitzler has played water polo every year since he was a freshman and really enjoys it.

“[I joined] because I had never played it but it looked fun and it had my testosterone pumped and it made me very manly because that’s just what water polo does,” said Deitzler.

In water polo Deitzler plays set, one of the hardest and most aggressive positions in the game.

“It’s pretty much a wrestle to see who doesn’t drown and I like that because drowning somebody without drowning yourself is fun,” said Deitzler.

Deitzler plans to go on to major in engineering and becoming an aerospace or mechanical engineer when he grows up.

“I want to be an engineer because applying physics and math is fun and making things out of the applied physics and math is fun,” said Deitzler.
