- Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (2022) Dir. Stephen Donnelly – This new take on the classic Christmas story “A Christmas Carol” is brought back to life in this new Netflix Musical from 2022. If you forgot the story, it’s about an old man named Ebenezer Scrooge who hates Christmas and everything about it. When he falls asleep, he is haunted by his old work partner and the three spirits: the ghost of the past, the present and the future. After being scared of the “yet to come,” he came around and started appreciating Christmas and started being nicer to everyone around him. But in this version, it features amazing 3D animation and incredible music.
- Elf (2003) Dir. John Favreau- The fun Will Ferrell movie “Elf” is a must watch Christmas classic. Released in 2003, This movie follows a jolly Elf, Buddy, who is bigger than most elves because he is a human raised by elves in the North Pole. Finding this out, Buddy flies to New York city to find his real dad. While he’s in NYC he goes on goofy adventures trying to fit into the real world.
- Arthur Christmas (2011) Dir. Sarah Smith- This movie puts a spin on Santa Clause as actually a family business passed on for years. But it follows the current Santa’s second son, Arthur, a klutz and a Christmas fanatic. When a child’s present is missed, Arthur teams up with an elf and his grandpa to make sure this kid gets a good Christmas- but they have to go through a lot to get there.
- Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (2000) Dir. Phil Roman- The famous Christmas song was turned into a movie. Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer is about…well it’s pretty obvious, but in the movie a boy goes out to find his grandmother and uncover who took the body away.
- Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (1964) Dir. Larry Roemer & Kizo Nagashima– Based on another famous Christmas song, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. If you know the song, this movie basically sums up the whole story stretched out for 55 mins with new elements and an amazing stop motion film for 1964.
- The Polar Express (2004) Dir. Robert Zemeckis– The Polar Express is about a train that gathers kids to the North Pole through a magical adventure on Christmas Eve. The big thing that people talk about this movie for is the realistic animation done by motion capturing and 3D animation. Tip: watch this movie with hot cocoa.
