As the progression of the school year starts our annual pep rally has approached. The day was a hot and sunny day, reaching 84 degrees. As students filled in the football stadium the energy was already there. StuCo leads everyone into their selective grade level spots. The band could be heard in the background, bringing all the energy up even more.

“Being with my friends and dancing with Reana were really fun and overall just participating was fun,” Journee Glasby, freshman, said. “I also loved when they announced that I won for Homecoming Court.”

Many games were played this year starting off with the water game. The purpose of this was to fill the other containers[flip your container while being blindfolded into your teammate’s one] while being blindfolded.

“How could I lift this water?” Stefani Hudson, senior, said. “The water was pretty heavy, but I was mainly thinking if my team would have won.”

Hosting the rally was A’J Rodriguez, junior, and Ehress Cunningham-Peoples, senior.

The two definitely were hyping up the crowd. They then called up each class. The rally even had our next door neighbors here: Jackson Park. The little kids definitely seemed to enjoy their time here, shown through their smiles and cheers.

The next game was “red light, green light.” This game really got a lot more people to get engaged with the rally, and more people were trying to get involved with the games.

The last and final event of the rally was the tug or war between the cheerleaders and football players. The football players won both rounds.

“I think me being pretty well built, muscular, and strong, you know, really just valued more in how we won,” Robert Robinson, junior said.

The cheerleaders went into the tug of war ready to put up a fight.

”Honestly I thought we would win at least once,” Trinity Gillespie, freshman, said. “I thought the football players were not as strong as they seemed.”
