The 2018 class graduated from University City High School on May 14 at Chaifetz Arena, moving on to a new stage in their lives.

The traditional “Pomp and Circumstance,” played by the concert band and orchestra, welcomed students into the venue and as the night progressed, senior class president, Kelsi Bryant, gave the opening speech. Bryant ended her emotional speech on a high note by asking the crowd, “One last time, what time is it? U time!”

Following Bryant was the U. City choir with their rendition of “Seasons of Love,” from the musical, “Rent,” highlighting the vocal talent of soloist Jamoni Richardson, senior.

David White, valedictorian, gave the speech he had been anticipating his entire high school career.

“It meant the world to me as a freshman [to be valedictorian],” said White. “I even had a list of people I thought of as competition.”

Additional speeches were then given by Terran Williams, senior, guest speaker Koran Bolden, principal Susan Hill, superintendent Sharonica Hardin-Bartley, Ph.D. and board of education president Joanne Soudah. Many tears were shed, families looked at their seniors proudly and smiles were seen on every face at one point or another.
