Seniors walk UCHS halls one last time

It is once again that joyful yet heart wrenching time of the year when the seniors say their final goodbye to their high school career and begin their independent journey.

May 7 marked the last official school day for University City High School seniors, but a senior walk, which was held the following day, allowed staff and students to say a proper farewell to their seniors and see them leave the school with their heads held high. The walk began at  8:25 AM with the seniors gathering in the main gym and making their way through all three floors of the school while students and teachers stood by snapping pictures and congratulating the seniors. Dressed from head to toe in their graduation attire, the seniors were the true epitome of young adults anxious to make their mark in the world.

After seniors said farewell, they were put on busses to Chaifetz Arena for graduation practice.

“It made me feel excited and sad because we’re finally at the end and now my friends and I are starting our own new adventures alone,” said Jacques Garrett, senior.

After they left Chaifetz, seniors headed to Coachlite Skate Center two- or four-year college, proof of enlistment in the military, or have a solid employment plan for the following year. The celebration lasted from 11:30 -1:30 and included food, prizes, and raffles.

The rest of the week is going to be spent doing activities such as roller skating and bowling and will give the class of 2019 one last chance to be together before heading their separate ways after graduation.
